Maria waving at Richard Branson's Necker Island, BVI's. I think Richard waved back...
The beaches are not crowded at all, if you know where to go!
Looking at beach rocks! Notice my foot for scale...

Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke. Lots of activity here!
This is why it is called the Soggy Dollar Bar - you swim ashore and your money gets pretty wet. But the bars still like to take it!
Norman Island reef from the top of the island
Snorkeling off Norman Island at the Caves. We are looking for pirate treasure of course!
Reef fish swimming out of the Norman Island caves
This is North Sound with the Bitter End in the distance. If you squint you might see Aspen!
Enjoying life...

Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
Disneyland sailing at last! That is why we love the BVI's - protected waters, many close islands to sail to, lots of beach bars and restaurants and wonderful beaches. It just doesn't get much better anywhere else on the planet.
We have sailed to Norman Island, Jost Van Dyke and spent a lot of time at the Bitter End on Virgin Gorda, Maria's favorite place. At the Bitter End they have good wifi and Saba Rock has tasty conch fritters!
Our friends from Colorado, Tim and Deb, chartered a bareboat and we managed to rendezvous with them at two nice anchorages. They had four 20 something's (family and friends) as crew and they really kept the pace lively to say the least.
We also met up with our Canadian catamaran sailing friends, Laurie and Dawn on Cattales, and sailed to several islands with them including White Bay on Jost Van Dyke where we sailed with them onboard their boat one day. Visiting the Soggy Dollar Bar, where the legendary Pain Killer drink was invented, was much more entertaining then we remembered. Yet we somehow managed to find the way back through the reef and drag ourselves back to Aspen before the sun set that evening!
Oh the agony of sailing in the BVI's!
Now it is time to get Aspen ready to go into storage for hurricane season and fly back to Colorful Colorado. It has been 10 months of fascinating adventures but now it is time for some good old American culture and the three "f's": family, friends and FOOD!
See you soon in the mountains once again.
Sail on, sail on Aspen...
